[Grace act.] Vol. 2: The motivation for donating to a children's home

Hello everyone.
I'm NAO, the owner and designer.

At Nao Lingerie, we are gradually making efforts to contribute to society through our unique social contribution activities, which we call "Grace act." Currently, we are carrying out a social activity to donate underwear to children in foster care facilities.

I would like to start by talking about why I am involved in these activities, starting from my own origins.

~The reason for donating to a children's home~

As I wrote in Vol. 1 , ever since I started my business, I have been waiting for an opportunity to help children. However, even if I wished for it, it was difficult to immediately realize it, and that was supporting orphanages.

Foster care facilities can be considered closed spaces. This is necessary to protect children from adults who could become perpetrators. There are parents who want to live with their children but are unable to raise them, and there are parents who have little interest in raising their children and try to take advantage of their own children.

In fact, a child who was once placed in an orphanage was taken in by his biological father. As he grew older, he started using social media, and his mother happened to find it and contacted him, meeting him. The mother then sold him into human trafficking.

Another woman who grew up in an orphanage told me firsthand that her mother was addicted to host clubs and spent all of their money, so she would even come to ask for money from her part-time job.

In order to protect the lives and minds of the children, the facility makes it a rule not to allow anyone, not even parents, to easily approach the children.

At that time, I attended a meeting hosted by a wonderful woman who was working to support orphanages and was considering becoming a foster parent, and some staff members from the orphanage were also in attendance.

A staff member told us, "It depends on the facility, but the amount of money that children can spend on clothing and underwear is limited. Children want clothes first, so they don't have much money for underwear, and I feel sorry for them, forcing them to continue wearing old underwear. Everyone also says that underwear is too expensive and they can't afford it." Even among adults, many people don't prioritize buying underwear, so it seems only natural that this tendency is even stronger among children.

To my surprise, the staff member happened to talk to me without knowing that I made underwear. I wanted people to experience the warmth, self-love, and self-care that comes from wearing Naorangerie underwear, which is made with the warmth of hands, so I asked if I could donate some Naorangerie underwear on the spot.

The staff readily agreed, and for the first time, the underwear and the concept of Nao Lingerie were able to reach children. Continued → Vol.3
