Vol.1 History Edition〈NAO LINGERIE - Behind the Scenes of Joy and Pain〉
Nao Lingerie Ginza Salon was opened by owner and designer NAO alone about nine years ago.
Before starting the Ginza Salon, I used an apartment in Shirokane as my home and office.
On the fifth floor, up the spiral staircase of a small, old building in Ginza 8-chome, you will find a hideaway-like space filled with only NAO 's favorite things.
The salon is filled with antiques collected from around the world, original fragrances, and gorgeous lingerie, creating a luxurious yet mysteriously charming atmosphere that somehow makes you feel at ease, as if you were visiting a friend's home.
The world of lingerie is often thought of as glamorous and glamorous, but in an industry that is said to be difficult for new entrants to enter, founding a brand and continuing to operate a store was a constant struggle.
When we first started, we didn't have any lingerie brands to serve as role models, and we had no connections in the lingerie industry, so even buying fabric was difficult and no one would take us seriously.We spent every day bowing our heads, but we eventually found a factory that was willing to cooperate, and little by little, things started to take shape.
I focused on making it for about a year, and finally completed it.
We participated in the Shanghai Mode Lingerie Exhibition in October 2013. Participants were able to walk the runway at Shanghai Fashion Week, so we started by unveiling our products to the world.
Immediately after returning to Japan, I held my first exhibition. At the time, social media wasn't as popular as it is now, so my customers were just friends. My first exhibition was attended by about 150 friends.
From there, people started to visit us through referrals and media articles, and little by little our circle of customers expanded. Now, we are truly grateful to have loyal customers all over the country.
In addition to the Ginza Salon, we have had the opportunity to do pop-ups at various major department stores. In 2018 , we opened a permanent store at Nihonbashi Takashimaya, which was unusual for a private brand (it is now closed), and we have also been approached by department stores all over the country, and we still have a pop-up at Isetan Shinjuku every year.

He has also appeared in many media outlets, including television programs such as "Gaia no Yoake" and "Seven Rules," and magazines and web magazines such as " Forbes JAPAN " and " WWD JAPAN ," as well as many other television programs, radio programs, and magazines.
NAO , who had no name or investors, started his own personal brand all by himself, but thanks to all of you, it has become known to many people.
Since the beginning, NAO 's goal has remained the same: " Nao Orangery will be a place in someone's heart. "
For NAO , who felt " there was no place for her " since she was a child, beautiful lingerie was a source of comfort and solace to her anxieties and loneliness. Having been saved by lingerie so many times, she now believes that lingerie has the power to " protect oneself. "
I believe that people experience many joys and struggles as they live in society. There are times when they feel good physically and mentally, times when they feel bad, periods when their weight fluctuates dramatically, and times when their life stages change. Women also experience many daily changes, such as the lunar cycle and pregnancy and childbirth.
We would be extremely happy if we could help you find fulfillment in your mind and body through Na Orangery, no matter what situation you are in.
This is a philosophy that we will continue to hold even after the Ginza Salon closes.
